Silent Update

OK... getting close to the end... I made a great discovery today on something that had been bothering me for quite awhile. That is, there is a DRONE LOW E sound that is panned hard left and most of the time, fades in with the first note of the Ric 12 string phrase. I tried every instrument I could think of tonail this sound, and then driving home today, I had thought of something I had not yet tried. Mike played a cello on some earlier tracks and I thought, maybe? Well, sure enough, BINGO, nailed it.

Now, I just need to work on the guitar sounds that Steve used for all the little stuff going on in the song and it will be close to posting. And yes, the Mellotron choirs sound amazing (I might be a bit biased but they really do sound SPOT ON).

Silent Sorrow

This was a fun song to recreate in MIDI. For one thing, no vocals to extract from the original recording. Also, learning, performing and mixing the Mellotron part was a ton of fun. There really isn't too much to this song, a repeating 12 string electric guitar part, some bass pedal work, some floaty guitar stuff and tons of percussion.
